Black Diamond Headlamp
You need a good headlamp! Don't fight me on this. Once you've tried one, you won't want to go back to a regular flashlight. It lights where you're looking and leaves your hands free for tasks and carrying stuff. I can recommend the Black Diamond Gizmo at $20. It's plenty bright and weighs next to nothing (2 oz.). Pumps out 35 lumens on high and runs up to 72 hours on low with two AAA batteries. Available at REI and other retailers.
